About us

SEDEF is a vocal and instrumental cultural ensemble from Serbia dedicated to preserving, interpreting and presenting the rich musical heritage of Serbia and the Central Balkans through carefully curated artistic programs. Combining authenticity, artistic excellence and contemporary interpretation, the ensemble brings traditional music to today’s audiences in Serbia and around the world.

Founded in 2024, SEDEF has rapidly established itself through concert performances, cultural collaborations and the release of its debut studio album featuring twelve carefully selected traditional songs from different regions. In addition to traditional repertoire, the ensemble performs selected spiritual and patriotic compositions, creating programs tailored to concert halls, festivals, cultural institutions, corporate events and diplomatic occasions.

Every SEDEF performance is thoughtfully designed to suit the character of each event, offering audiences an authentic and refined cultural experience that celebrates the richness of Serbia’s musical heritage while creating meaningful connections across cultures and generations.

Performance programs

SEDEF offers carefully designed programs of vocal and instrumental interpretations of traditional music, tailored for cultural institutions, corporate events, diplomatic receptions and international audiences.

Each program is designed according to the character of the event, the venue and the audience, with a high level of artistic and production standards.

MEMBERS

Nevena Čiplak Lazarević, vocal soloist

Student at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, Department of Serbian Literature and Language.Active on the music scene since 2008, initially as a member of the cultural and artistic society “Kopaonik” from Leposavić. Finalist of the TV show “Šljivik” in the 2012/13 season.Vocal coach of the cultural and artistic society “Šumadija” from Vlaška, member of the a cappella ensemble Srbski Pravoslavni Pojci and Ethno Group Sedef.Founder and active member of the ensemble Sedef.

Nemanja Lazarević, ​percussionist

Master fine artist and fresco painter, specialized in church arts at the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and a member of ULUPUDS.Active in folklore since 2002, where his love for traditional sound first began.Active member of the cultural and artistic society “Gradimir” from Belgrade and Ethno Group Sedef.Founder and active member of the ensemble Sedef.

Katarina Golubović, ​guitarist

Guitar teacher at the “Vatroslav Lisinski” Music School in Belgrade.She graduated in guitar from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. She learned her first folk music chords at the age of 10, playing with her parents.As an instrumentalist, she took her first musical steps in the academic cultural and artistic society “Branko Krsmanović”.She is a member of Ethno Group Sedef.

Milan Ducić, ​woodwind instruments

He completed his undergraduate academic studies in Plovdiv, specializing in kaval performance.He has been active on the folklore scene since 2007.He is a member of CNKN “Koreni” from Zaječar, the folk orchestra of AKUD “Ivo Lola Ribar”, and Ethno Group Sedef.

Andreja Ristivojević, ​violinist

He is a student at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.He has been playing the violin since the age of 4. He completed primary music school in violin and secondary music school in viola.He played in the orchestra of the “Vatroslav Lisinski” Music School, and is a member of the musical ensembles “Koreni”, “Zlatno Zvonce” and Ethno Group Sedef.

Aleksa Radonjić, ​woodwind and string instruments

He is a student at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.He graduated from the “Mokranjac” Music School in Belgrade, Department of Traditional Folk Singing and Kaval Performance.He plays more than 10 traditional instruments, including woodwind and string instruments.He is the founder and leader of the Ethno Ensemble of KUD “Koreni” and a member of Ethno Group Sedef.

Miloš Živojinović, ​accordionist

He graduated from the “Dr Vojislav Vučković” Secondary Music School in Belgrade.He has been playing the accordion since the age of 10.He is a member of the orchestra of KUD “Šumadija” from Vlaška, the band “Čarobne Dirke”, and Ethno Group Sedef.

Dimitrije Mihailović, ​clarinetist

He is a student at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Department of Music.He took his first musical steps and developed his love for our musical and folk tradition and culture at the “Živorad Grbić” Music School.He is a member of the orchestra of CZNTK “Abrašević” Valjevo and Ethno Group Sedef.

Ethno group Sedef featured on “150 minuta”

Prva Television featured Ethno group Sedef in its programme “150 minuta”. Through an interview with Nevena Čiplak, the ensemble’s vocal soloist, as well as footage from the performance, viewers had the opportunity to learn more about the group and the music through which Sedef preserves and presents the richness of traditional musical heritage in a contemporary way.
